Android Gingerbread Operating System
The Xperia PLAY runs the Android 2.3 operating system (dubbed Gingerbread)--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming e-mail and then switch back to the game without losing your place. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web. A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions. The Xperia PLAY also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day. | Google Integration

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i Unlocked Phone and Gaming Device with Android OS and Slide-Out Gamepad Reviews
19 of 19 people found the following review helpful: Very nice, but seems to have some software issues, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i Unlocked Phone and Gaming Device with Android OS and Slide-Out Gamepad (Wireless Phone Accessory) PROS: Beautiful phone. Impresive screen. Wi-FI, Bluetooth, GPS, Internet all work fine. Call audio excellent, good reception. A gamer must. Easy to use and get used to. Comes with a 8GB microSD. CONS: Game controler is a little small (and I don't have big hands). Also a little heavier than other phones. But the real problem is that sometimes while calling the screen goes blank, so you don't have access to any function, then things come back to normal (so i guess it must be something in the software). Also while playing, all of a sudden the game has shut down and automaticaly gone back to the home screen. Not very frequent but should be a perfect phone of this price. 17/06/2011: A software update has practiaclly fixed all the bugs. No more closing programs or problems with the phone calls. Very happy indeed. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: Finally a playstation phone, This review is from: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i Unlocked Phone and Gaming Device with Android OS and Slide-Out Gamepad (Wireless Phone Accessory) have been playing video games since I could hold a regular NES controller in my hands. When smart phone's first came out there was no way I was going to purchase one when my psp could do everything they could, and had quality games for it. Finally I have the best of both worlds despite what another review on amazon states. The phone works great it is loud and clear. The phone doesn't come with a really great line up of games unless your a sims fan, but it comes with perfect controls to fit all the wonderful apps. Through the android market you can find a emulator for the playstation 1, GBA, SNES, N64, ATARAI, NES, GBC, and many more. Despite the playstaion network not being on this phone through the emulators it is really easy to play all your favorite games that you already own through the emulators. I have nothing negative to say about this phone. Its not the most advanced smartphone available, but its hands down the best gaming phone available. If only the playstation Vita would... Great for gaming, as a phone, as a personal assistant, GPS, Internet, etc... Android 2.3 is an amazing system and the option to add more apps (even not validated ones) is a great plus... I already played the included games and downloaded more.. I even tried some emulators for N64 and SNES for roms of games I own (to discard any issues) and it works fantastic.... I totally recommend it! |
